Founded in 1873, Kohler was started by immigrant John Michael Kohler from Austria.

From cemetery crosses to castings, it wasn’t until 1883 that Kohler began manufacturing bathtubs after he applied enamel to a cast iron horse trough to create the company’s first bathtub.

Ever since then, Kohler bathtubs include a full line of commercial products, but are also one of the few manufacturers in the country who still make traditional cast iron bathtubs.

The company has been a leader in innovation in bathtub designs and purposeful manufacturing with its line expanded to included small bathtubs, free standing bathtubs, alcove, undermount, and corner bathtubs, clawfoot bathtubs, and even whirlpools.  The company has focused on ease of installation and good quality material.
